About IV Sedation
Making sure you feel completely relaxed and comfortable is important to us at MINT dentistry so you can have a positive experience throughout your appointment. MINT dentistry in Las Colinas, TX is able to offer IV (intravenous) sedation to help our patients during dental surgery. IV sedation is a method that is reserved for use during invasive or longer oral surgeries, like implant placement or surgical tooth extractions. IV sedation is an anti-anxiety medication that is administered directly into your bloodstream. The medication will keep you relaxed and calm during the procedure. Although you'll be conscious, you will be so relaxed it will seem like you were asleep. Your medication levels will be carefully monitored during your procedure to make sure you are safe and comfortable. If you are getting IV sedation, your MINT dentistry team will explain how it will work during your consultation.
Best Candidates
IV sedation is recommended for those undergoing oral surgery. Before recommending IV sedation, a member of the MINT dentistry team will assess what medications you are taking and if you have a current or previous medical condition. We can also discuss the other sedation dentistry options our practice offers before helping you choose the very best option for your situation. Our goal at MINT dentistry is to help you get the sexy teeth you want while keeping you comfortable and safe so you have a positive experience.

What to Expect
Before your IV is inserted, you will be given time to settle into a plush treatment chair in a procedure room. We will give you a pair of Beats headphones and offer you a pair of our stylish MINT dentistry sunglasses. When you are ready, a small needle will be inserted into your vein so the medicine can begin to work. You should start to feel the effects within a few short minutes. Once you are fully at ease, we will begin to perform your oral surgery. When the surgery is completely finished, we will remove the IV and, after a few moments, you will begin to wake up out of the sedation.
Treatment Aftercare
You are not allowed to drive for a minimum of 24 hours after your appointment. You need to have someone pick you up from our office and take care of you. When you get home, we recommend you relax and hydrate. You may feel nauseous or have some short-term memory loss. These side effects are common and should diminish within a day of receiving the sedation. Patients very rarely have adverse reactions to IV sedation; however, if you have any concerns or your symptoms persist, please contact us immediately.
The MINT Commitment
IV sedation may or may not be covered by your dental insurance. Prior to receiving sedation, our financial team will speak to your insurance company to determine any additional out-of-pocket costs. MINT dentistry also offers payment options and financial planning. We believe that undergoing dental procedures should be a stress-free experience. If you do not have dental insurance or are concerned about the cost of IV sedation, we encourage you to ask your dentist for more information on the MINT Discount Plan that may make it easier to afford your dental care.
